Why Long Grove?

Historic Downtown
Long Grove may be best known for its specialty shops and special dining. Visitors travel long distances by car and chartered bus to spend a day in our Historic Business District. Downtown Long Grove contains some 120 businesses. With few exceptions, all are open seven days a week, all year long. The success of our turn-of-the-century shopping environment is not just luck. After World War II, when the Village as we know it today began taking shape, a need to preserve the historic value and flavor of the district was recognized. As a result, the first historic district in Illinois was created in 1960 by Village ordinance.

Infrastructure Improvements
Over the last few years, the Village has reinvested in a town-wide restoration plan with a mission to bridge yesterday’s timeless charms with today’s modern conveniences. Upgraded infrastructure including new roads, sewers, lighting, public water, and sidewalks are paving the way for a new generation of businesses, employees, and residents while rejuvenating the long line of Long Grove anchors.

Long Grove Living
Long Grove continues to be considered one of the best places in the country to raise a family, home to some of Illinois’ top-rated public schools and lowest crime rates. Intentionally through philosophy and comprehensive planning, large lots, forests, and conservation areas make Long Grove feel private and pastoral, yet it’s close to everything with train service to Chicago.
