As of June 1, 2026, the Village of Long Grove has adopted the following codes:

  1. The International Residential Code (IRC), 2021 edition
  2. The International Building Code (IBC), 2021 edition
  3. The NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC), 2023 edition
  4. The International Fire Code, 2021 edition
  5. The International Mechanical Code (IMC), 2021 edition
  6. The International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), 2021 edition
  7. The Illinois Energy Conservation Code, latest edition, as published by the State of Illinois Capital Development Board
  8. The International Wildland-Urban Interface Code, 2021 edition
  9. The ICC Performance Code for Buildings and Facilities, 2021 edition
  10. The Illinois Accessibility Code, latest edition, as published by the State of Illinois Capital Development Board
  11. The International Existing Building Code (IEBC), 2021 edition
  12. The International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC), 2021 edition
  13. The International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC), 2021 edition

The Village of Long Grove uses an online portal called CommunityCore for building permits.

A Homeowner or Contractor may submit a permit application.  All permits must be submitted electronically through CommunityCore.

Required documentation should be uploaded to your permit application using CommunityCore.

ALL EXTERIOR WORK REQUIRES ENGINEERING REVIEW AND INSPECTIONS, even remove & replace projects could be subject to engineering review and inspection fees.
