Initially settled in the 1800s, the Village of Long Grove was incorporated in 1956. The Village takes great pride in operating a small staff located in the historic Drexler Tavern (c. 1859), currently located at 3110 Old McHenry Rd. The tavern was restored by the Long Grove Historical Society and relocated to land behind Countryside Kildeer School in 1974.
The one-room Archer School and preserved Ruth Barn were also moved to the area near Village Hall.
